Hi!

my name is Francesco. I'm a German medical doctor exchanging to Columbia from the Free University of Berlin (Germany) for the Fall Semester 24, so I’m looking for a room from the 21st of August until late December/early January.
I was born in Germany and grew up between Germany and Italy until I moved to Berlin to study medicine. During this time I had the change to participate in academic exchanges to Sweden, Spain, Chile, Uruguay, and Cuba, which allowed me to collect a lot of experience in shared housing in different parts of the world. This means I know very well the importance of fostering a positive environment in a space where many people live together, both engaging with each other, respecting each other's boundaries, and keeping joint spaces clean, orderly, and so that all feel well within them. Living in all these places also gave me the chance to learn several languages and I currently fluently speak German, Italian, English, Spanish, Portuguese, and some really rusty Swedish. The greatest pleasure for me is to engage with people from different backgrounds.

With regards to my stay in New York, I will be studying comparative literature and philosophy at Columbia, as after med school and my doctorate in psychiatric epidemiology I decided to now pursue my passion in the humanities in parallel to my medical clinical and research activities. I'd say my lifestyle has gone towards the more industrious, quieter side at this point in my life. At 31 my rowdy days are past me, although I'm up for a party every now and then. In my free time I like to exercise, read (mostly fiction and poetry), write, explore the city by foot, and dedicate time to my friends, of which I already have some in New York and I'll be happy to make new ones once I'll be there.
