Available Room for Rent

Looking for Roommate to join lease on apartment Oct 1 or 15

Sunny bedroom in a 3-bed, 1.5-bath, two-story (duplex) apartment with 11-foot ceilings. Each bedroom has privacy, as they are distanced from one another (opposite ends and/or separate floors of the apartment) with no shared walls. In-building laundry. Good landlord. Please note that we keep the apartment *very, very, very* clean and are looking for someone who has very high standards of cleanliness. :) No couples or pets, sorry!

*THE LOCATION*

The apartment is in Bushwick, two blocks from the Central Ave M, a seven-minute walk to the Myrtle-Broadway JMZ, and about 15 minutes from the Morgan or Dekalb L. Lots of friendly bars, a growing food community in the area, and a couple great used bookstores.

*THE ROOM AND APARTMENT*

We’re in a spacious, 3-bed duplex on the first floor + the basement. We have a uniquely large amount of space when compared to the rest of the city. Importantly, our rooms aren’t on top of each other—no shared bedroom walls! This gives us each private space.

On the main floor is a sizable shared living/dining area, a well-stocked kitchen, two bedrooms at opposite ends of the apartment, and a full bath. Third bedroom is in the basement with a half bath. Lots of exposed brick throughout. The first floor is mainly left to you and the one roommate who also has a bedroom on the main floor, at the back.
The available bedroom is on the first floor at the front of the building. It has large windows, hardwood floors, an exposed brick wall, and a double closet. ***Please note that in the photos, the available bedroom is set up as an office. The first 4 photos are of the available bedroom.***

The landlord/management company is great (unusual to find!) and we have friendly neighbors, all of whom have been in the building for years or decades. There is coin laundry in the basement (only 5 other units in the building) and the apartment is well-heated in winter.

Accessibility: While we are on the first floor, there is a stoop with several steps to enter the building, and the laundry is in the basement down a flight of stairs.

Rent is $1400 each month, plus utilities (electricity, internet) which come to around $50-100 a month, depending on the season. Electricity is much higher in the summer bc of ACs. Heat and hot water are included in rent.

*THE PEOPLE*

The housemates are:
37-year-old (he) who works in creative technology/experiential design, is a classically-trained cook, and puts on interactive culinary events (not in the apartment). Works partly from home, partly outside the home. Has lived in the apartment for 10 years.

31-year-old (she), chemist/art conservator, works partly outside the home and partly from home. New to the apartment.
We hope to live with someone who is *very, very* clean and tidy, responsible, considerate of space and sound, has a positive attitude and kind communication.

*ABOUT YOU*
If interested, please email details about yourself including income source, age, interests, and what you value in your household/housemates. Please note: We will not respond to inquiries that do not provide this information.

Selected candidates will be invited to an introductory conversation via Zoom, followed by a visit to the apartment.
If we all decide it’s a good fit, the landlord will do a credit check and background check.

The sub-letter and leaseholders will sign a basic contract outlining terms. Rent will be paid to the leaseholder via Venmo.

An $1400 refundable deposit is required.
