Hi! I'm Katie - 26, currently living in the Alphabet City section of the East Village, and looking for a roommate to share my two-bed apartment with.
About me:
I lived in DC for 3 years after undergrad and have been in NYC since last summer, and I love it here! My current roommate is moving out of the city for a new job, so I'm looking for someone to take her room.
I work as a research consultant for a healthcare company, so pretty regular hours, generally 8:30-7pm ish. My company is based in DC, so I've been working from home for almost a year. Before Covid, I had a desk space set up in the living room but would try to work from cafes as much as possible. With Covid, I'll generally take work calls from my room to make sure I'm not disrupting anyone else's work.
I love running, yoga, and exploring the city. During the week, I'm pretty low key - will generally exercise, read, take care of errands, or go to a weekly Trivia night at a bar nearby. I'm very friendly and love meeting new people, but I'm definitely an introvert, so I value alone time to recharge. That said, I'd ideally like to be friends with my roommate! Splitting a bottle of wine or going out to dinner on occasion would be awesome.
I'm fairly calm and low key, though I do like to keep the apartment clean! I don't have preferences for how a roommate's space is kept - you do you - but I like to keep common spaces tidy, and hoping to find a roommate who's similar.
About the apartment:
The room will be available starting July 1, though I can be flexible with a move-in date later in July or in August (absolute latest is September 1!).
- The apartment was renovated in Summer 2019, so everything looks and feels new
- It's a true-two bedroom, no flexed wall or anything like that. The bedroom fits a queen, has a closet with a shelf, and has a big window
- The living room/kitchen and both bedrooms each have an all-in-one a/c, fan, and heating unit, which means no noisy window units or loud pipes! Also allows us to keep our spaces at whatever temperatures we like. (Might be my favorite thing about the apartment)
- The living room and kitchen are connected so the space feels very open, and gets a ton of sunlight! I'm an aspiring plant mom so that is important
- There are brand new kitchen appliances, including a new refrigerator, stove, oven, sink, counter tops, cabinets, etc. Lots of counter space in the kitchen
- There is no in-unit laundry, but the apartment is right on top of a very spacious and clean laundromat.
- It's on the fifth and top floor of the building, which means we can keep shoes in the hallway without bothering anyone, and there are no loud neighbors banging on the ceiling, and you'll get sculpted quads if you don't have those already
About the area:
The apartment is in the Alphabet City section of the East Village. It's a really interesting, fun, and beautiful neighborhood imho! Lots of cool restaurants, bars, shops, etc.
Some awesome things to note about location: There is a Target at the end of the block, a new Trader Joe’s one block away, and we're about a 2 minute walk from Tompkins Square Park and a 3 minute walk from the L train! If you're into running, walking, soccer, frisbee, or whatever, it's also very close to the East River park, which has beautiful places to spend time outside if that's your thing.
