I'm 44, a marketing/advertising copywriter, and grew up in Southeastern Wisconsin in a law enforcement family. At different times in my life, I've played drums in a traveling rock band, performed Shakespeare in summer repertory, toured with a children's theatre, had a screenwriting deal at Paramount, slung hash in a food truck, opened for nationally-touring stand-up comics, been a StorySlam champion, Sang the national anthem on the ice before a hockey game at an NHL stadium, shilled games at a Renaissance faire, worn a monster costume at a theme park's Halloween show, had a piece of visual art hanging in the headquarters of an international bank, driven a stock car around a NASCAR track, had lunch with Wolfgang Puck, busted online predators for "Dateline NBC," and ridden shotgun both on a helicopter tour of the Grand Canyon, as well as in a vintage Rolls-Royce driven by Wayne Newton. It's been a pretty interesting ride, to say the least.
Most recently, I've relocated to the Bay Area for work; Mountain View specifically. I'm currently staying with friends in the Northeast Bay (Pittsburg/Bay Point area). While it's very kind of them to help me get started with a place to land, the daily commute to Mountain View is getting pretty grueling. So I'm hoping to move somewhere closer to the office in order to cut back on spending 4-plus hours in the car every day.
