I'm a 36 year old male designer and educator working at a university and as a maker in various capacities. I'm also very into bicycle culture and advocacy and have an educational non-profit. I also teach yoga (privately) and work in multiple other areas of wellness. One roommate in her late 20s works in architecture and is also a dancer and artist. The other roommate, in his 30s, works in arts and design and is also a musician. We like to keep balance in the house so someone who identifies as other than male, may be the best fit. We are Lgbtqia and supportive of diverse lifestyles and identities. Don't reply if you aren't, thanks!

We're looking for short to long term roommates at our awesome Grand St apartment (the best NY/BK flat I have ever inhabited...seen?!) There is a room open April 15 and can be short term (2 month minimum) or longer if you fit well and like (love) the place. This apartment has been filled with artists and designers over the last years and also sprinkled in were folks in law, technology, film, medicine, etc.
The space is unlike any you have seen...it is a ground floor apartment that used to be a storefront and was completely renovated just before I moved in but retained an almost entirely glass street facing wall. If you have walked past it on the little fork of Grand street just where it meets Borinquin (which continues, with the bicycle lane toward the Williamsburg bridge) you will have noticed our house! At first it felt like a social experiment with the front glass wall and countless passers-by stopping to say "wow, is this a new shop/restaurant?...wait, do you live here?!?!" Yes, we live here, it is our home. I installed custom floor to ceiling panels to cover the windows for those times when endless sunlight isn't wanted in the space (or when more privacy is desired of course).
The "house" includes a main floor with 10+ foot ceilings, a glass front wall and an exposed brick wall on one side. There are 4 bedrooms total, 2 facing the Huge Back Yard and garden area, 1 in the center of the space, and 1 in the also huge basement that additionally includes tons of storage or work space to be used by all roommates. I use the basement for studio and work space for design and fabrication projects...and also to store materials. The kitchen and living room area take full advantage of all of the light from the front windows. The back yard is open and shaded for our hot summer (and is also a great place to hang with friends, grill out, or project a film on the giant wall I painted white for that purpose!) There are two bathrooms, one full size and one small with toilet and sink.
The available main floor rear bedroom (away from the street) has a huge window for awesome light. It's private door to the backyard brings a great breeze in in the warmer months and is perfect for stepping out into our private outside space. Furnishing is flexible with the several pieces currently in the room including bed frame and mattress and some shelving though things can change or be removed as you prefer. The rooms all have closets and are a good overall size...I have a queen sized bed and several shelves in my room and then a desk/table in the common living space.
