I'm a doctoral student (with about 1.5 years to go) at USC. When I'm not conducting social science research I like to play video and tabletop games, watch series, make pop corn from scratch and cuddle with my 65lb pit bull (Tiger Lily, aka Tiger, aka Princess Tigress of Lillius). I'm a pretty big world traveler (30+ countries) and I lived in East Africa (primarily Uganda) for 6 years before moving back to the LA area to pursue my PhD. I like to think I'm not your standard straight white dude - i.e. I don't have any hangups about sexuality / gender identity, I'm very comfortable having conversations about race, I'm generally very well informed about politics (though I think of these things mostly through the lens of the behavioral social sciences). My closest friends are scattered all over the world, so I don't have much use for big parties and keep things pretty low key. That said, once the pandemic is over, I'd love to host a gathering in this wonderful and spacious apartment.
I'm pretty quiet, but I do keep odd hours (night owl). I'm 420 friendly, smoke often and am always willing to share. That said, I'm also financially and practically responsible. In addition to working for USC, I do some research consulting on the side that gives my income a substantial boost. I'm hoping to find a housemate who can also be a friend. In these times it's so important to get along well with a housemate. So I really do hope you'll be open to making a new friend. Other than that, I'm pretty clean but not obsessed, I cook but nothing so elaborate that you won't have room in the kitchen, and I'm always willing to lend an ear or give a friend in need some encouragement. My guiding value is hospitality and hope you'll feel safe and comfortable in this shared space.

The apartment is in a truly beautiful 100y/o building in the heart of Koreatown, just off Wilshire. The neighborhood is fantastic. To the south we have the Central American corridor, with amazing street food, a panaderia, and a nice local supermarket. To the north is a historical neighborhood filled with art deco architecture, restaurants galore, great bars and night life, and it's walking distance to the Wiltern Theater. The apartment is spacious, with high ceilings and thick walls. The living room is huge and the bedroom is comfortably large for one person (when I stayed in that room I had a queen size bed, large desk, bookshelf and dresser in there). I am confident that you'll find it to be a very good deal. Flexible move in (the sooner the better). Also, depending on your credit, you may not have to pay a deposit.
