Hi, I'm Nate, and I've lived in Austin for 9 years. I've gotten to know quite a bit of the city, but there's always more to see and do. I'm an engineer working for a small-ish company in South Austin where I like what I do for work. I work a night shift out of the house, but sleep with earplugs during the day. Once I fall asleep, I'm a pretty heavy sleeper.
I'm looking to move closer to where I work in South/South East Austin. I've had roommates and housemates (both male and female) my entire life and I'd like to have a housemate again for at least another year.
In my free time, I mostly like to hang out with friends, try to be productive for some personal goals of mine, or do relaxing activities like watching a couple episodes of TV. I like checking out new places to eat and drink in Austin as well.
Having had a lot of roommates and housemates, I find I get along well with people who are in the upper half of cleanliness. Dishes and pans should be cleaned within a day (or two if necessary), so the sink can always be used by someone. Spills should be cleaned up right away so the mess doesn't spread. A pet is cool as long as they won't chew/damage/mark things. Cigarettes (even just the smell on clothes from a recent outdoor cig) can make me nauseous (don't have this issue with other recreational things done outdoors). These seem pretty reasonable to me.
I think I'm pretty easy to live with as long as you're clean and respectful, and I can provide prior housemate references as to what living with me is like. In college, I lived with slightly more girls than guys and had a gay roommate, so I'm flexible and always look to maintain a comfortable environment. If there is an issue, I will address it calmly and directly like an adult should, and always try to bring solutions to perceived problems. I'm also fun (on my days off work), and like exploring Austin. Most of my friends in Austin are married, so they have their own places, and I'm now looking for a housemate. Someone good to live with is the goal, but someone who I could become friends with would be even better. I would be looking for someone who would commit to at least a 10 month lease with me, so we won't be a good match if you plan to leave Austin before mid-2022 (or for the WFH crowd, when corporate calls you back into a west coast office). If we might be a fit, I'd be happy to connect and discuss further, thanks!
