Hello! My name is Mariah and I’m currently looking for a new roommate. Just a little bit about myself and the place:
I am 23 years old and just graduated from New York University last year with a bachelor’s degree in Computer Science. I now work for a tech company as a software and test engineer. Outside work, I enjoy spending time with family and friends, food (I’m a big foodie), cooking (and I do enjoy sharing what I cook :) ), hip hop dance, playing guitar, reading, volunteering, and exploring new places. I’m very laid back, social, and pretty much can get along with any type of person with any range of personalities (but please don’t be rude lol). Personality wise, I’m kind, caring, compassionate, goofy, and a big softie all around. As for how I am in living spaces, I like to keep the space clean for the most part unless I’m rushing out the door or happen to fall asleep, but that doesn’t happen often. In terms of noise, for the most part it’s just normal in terms of hearing me on my meetings, hearing the house being cleaned, etc. Sometimes I will play music on my speakers, but I keep that at normal volume as well. As for guests, I do like having guests over including family and friends and they will stay over once in a while.
So that’s a little bit about me. Another important note of information is that I do have an additional roommate who lives here as well. Her name is Jessica and she is also 23. We both went to NYU together and lived together and have been friends for several years now. She majored in animation studies and is a super cool artist who makes animated films! She is also friendly, more shy, but still gets along with pretty much anybody and is also super laid back. She’s usually working so for the most part she’s not typically home, but when she is, she usually is napping or gaming. She is a night owl so she does play games at night sometimes and will yell and scream which I find comical, but if you’re someone who’s a light sleeper and might be irritated by the noise at night, that might be something you want to keep in mind. She is also clean and helps keep the place nice.
Last, but not least, we do have a dog. I actually just got her a few weeks ago! She is a golden retriever puppy named Soca (after the caribbean music genre)! She is very cute and very sweet. She is still being potty trained (which she is good for the most part) and because she is still a puppy, she does still chew on things. I’m usually watching her most of the time so it’s rare she’ll be able to get away with chewing things she’s not supposed to. And she is getting professional training now, so a lot of these things will improve. Whoever lives here is more than welcome to play with her, spend time, etc. Or if you don’t want to, that’s okay too! But also as she gets older, she will shed quite a bit so while I will be cleaning it everyday, that’s another thing to keep in mind. We are pet friendly, so if you have a pet of your own that you would like to bring they are welcome as well, we just want to make sure they are friendly with other pets so they can interact safely together.
The apartment is very nice and the neighborhood is also great! The rooms are very spacious with a lot of closet space and huge windows. The building has a laundry in the basement and also has a large backyard. Within the neighborhood there are a ton of great restaurants, gyms, lounges, boutiques, and stores all within less than a 10 minute walk. The buses and E, F, M, and R trains are only an 8 minute walk (one of the buses is across the street). And there is also the Long Island Rail Road which is a 10 minute walk. And for those who haven’t taken the LIRR, you can take it from Forest Hills to 34th St and/or Grand Central which is only a 15 minute train ride as opposed to the subway which is about 25-30 minutes.
Overall, we are open to any roommate and are flexible and respectable when it comes to what it is you need while living in the space. We are by no means strict roommates and are very understanding with all different types of situations whether that’s in regards to cleaning, being social, having guests over, pets, noise, etc. Whatever it is we always just ask that you communicate with us about things in whatever way is comfortable for you.
