About Me

I'm a software engineer, a bit more introverted than extroverted, I like to be outside and explore the city. I don't watch sports or much tv at all and actually don't really like tv on in the background haha. Moving from a three year stint in the Bay Area, though I’m from outside of Philly originally. I like going into the office and plan to do so most days. In NY searching for a place 7/9-7/11.

Available Room for Rent

Affordable room in Midtown!

I’m leaving my place in Murray Hill for the Upper East Side, and looking for someone to take over my lease! This is a flex triple, the room advertised is the flex room. It’s about 6’ x 15’ and the flex wall goes all the way up to the ceiling, and is pretty good about keeping sound out.

Advantages:
- Super chill roommates, both are in tech and neither are around a ton so you have the space to yourself for the most part. They’re friendly, but both have their own thing going on, so hopefully you do too and you’re cool with that.
- Pretty quiet environment at the apartment: as mentioned above both roommates are out a lot of the time, and often hang in their rooms when they’re home so there’s not too much outside noise coming into the flex room.
- The flex room has far and away the best windows in the apartment. They look out onto the street, and let in a good bit of natural light, though you’re not going to get much direct sunlight due to the surrounding buildings + northeastern orientation of the windows.

Challenges:
- Because the room overlooks 39th street, it can be a bit noisy. It does calm down at night after 10, but you’ll still get some honks and engine revving (probably unavoidable in Manhattan, but unmitigated here). Some of that will also come through in the mornings. I’m a pretty light/poor sleeper, so this was a dealbreaker for me, but I’ve had some success with a white noise machine and earplugs.
- The room has a furnace, but no AC, so it will get hot in the summer. You can certainly throw an AC unit in the window, I never tried it (laziness + concern about exacerbating the noise issue).
- The apartment isn’t very well ventilated, particularly the common areas, so it can feel a bit stuffy. I suspect this will be less of an issue as we get toward Fall and Winter, but it’s something to bear in mind.

If you think this place could be right for you please reach out! Looking for someone to move in between September 15th and October 1.
