About Me

Looking for a roommate who can respect my space and create a space that is safe for us both, but also be helpful around the house, fun and organized on the weekends, and thoughtful and understanding if life gets difficult. I am an artist so I love to decorate and relax at home with friends/roommates who are respectful and fun to brainstorm ideas with! I believe it's equally important to have roommates/friends be included as it is to prioritize quiet personal space. I prefer disco dancing to bar hopping. I'm known as my friend's go-to person for bar and party recommendations, but I usually only make big plans in advance and on the weekends. I occasionally have friends visit from out of town, meaning you can too. I prefer the kitchen and bathrooms to stay clean, but I can work with/be held responsible for clutter in a respectful way because I understand life moves quickly! I work out frequently (cycling, yoga, boxing) and I love fashion. I volunteer at a high-end thrift store and get first dibs on all the hottest vintage pieces. I love to paint!

Available Room for Rent

Seeking to renew lease, room available with walk-in closet in 2bedroom, 900sq ft furnished apartment

Looking for a (preferably female) roommate for my 2 bed 1 bath 900sq ft apartment in Kip’s Bay for a 2022-2023 lease starting May 1st.

The room I’m looking to fill has its OWN walk-in closet! It fits a full-size bed currently with about 3ft of space on either side. It’s the bedroom closest to the entrance on the floor plan. My current roommate is willing to sell her current furniture cheap to the next resident if they’re interested.

MONTHLY UTILITIES:
$25 per person for internet; about $45 per person for electricity, unless we are running the air conditioner(s) in the summer, then it’s about $75/person; gas and heat is included in the rent

AVAILABILITY:
The new roommate and I need to sign/renew a year-long lease starting May 1st. If we can renew before the end of February, they’ll give us the month of May 2023 free. I have until March 1st to find someone else or sadly I’ll have to give this place up. You’ll need to apply to the company directly prior to signing a lease.

ABOUT THE SPACE:
It’s on the second floor of the building (there’s a staircase in the lobby and an elevator) and the laundry room and trash/recycle rooms are in the basement via elevator. There’s also a massive roof deck that we’re not *technically* supposed to go on, but the live-in super is chill and lets me anyway. In the lobby, there’s a double entrance and a mailroom. Also, I got astroturf for the fire escape along with some plants which we occasionally hang out and have breakfast on.

I’m currently keeping my bike in that long hallway on the floor plan, and it has a huge coat closet for shared winter coats and shoes.

The bathroom is small, but it has a huge storage shelf behind the mirror and we installed 2 other shelves for storage. There are hooks on the back of the door for towels.

I’ve furnished and decorated the entire living room with vintage and handmade furniture as well as my art, so the kitchen and living room are completely move-in ready and you won’t need to bring anything, though you certainly can if you’d like! The entire place is fitted with Phillips hue color-changing lightbulbs.

My bedroom is connected to the living room, but generally, I keep my doors open and I’m chill about watching TV and hanging out there. The bedrooms are on opposite sides of the apartment which I love because you really can’t hear each other even if we both have music or our TVs playing. The apartment is mostly made of concrete so it’s really quiet and sound insulated.

Most importantly, I have a wii and 2 dance dance revolution mats – which show the scale of the living room but also is a really great workout and game to play. Pretty sure the only other DDR game in manhattan is found at dave and buster’s.

The apartment is huge, seriously you won’t find a bigger apartment below 125th street at this price, believe me, I’d be living there if there were any. The rent is below market value because my friends and I have kept renewing it for years.

ABOUT ME, OLIVIA:
I am a graphic designer at an ad agency, and I also paint and create my own art at home. I am a hard worker and pretty career-driven, but I have a great work-life balance. During the winter, I love to cook and spent the last 2 years getting pretty good, so expect entire cheesecakes, 3-course Italian meals, marijuana edibles, and eggs benedict, and more occasionally, at no cost to you. I also love to read quietly in my room when it’s sub-zero outside. During the summer, I spend weekends biking around the city, going to music festivals, spending an entire day at a beer garden, and going to the beach. During the fall, I love to have picnics in the park, do yoga on the rooftop, drink pumpkin spice lattes. I love candles and incense so the place will always smell great. I was a former emo kid so I love pop-punk music, but have since graduated to lana del rey. I am not a morning person, but I am a very late night owl.

Also, the last 5 roommates I’ve had, within the year of living with me, met the love of their life and moved in with them the following year; each of these couples are still together to this day. So if you live with me, there’s about a 75% you will meet the love of your life.

WHO I"M LOOKING FOR:
A female or nonbinary roommate aged 24-34 (unless you’re a very mature 21 year old) who also has a consistent weekly schedule or job.
Pets are accepted on a case-by-case basis, and I'm allergic to cats but I've had a roommate with a cat before.

I’ve lived and worked in NYC for the past 5 years, and I’ve lived in every sort of apartment you can imagine. I’ve lived with 3 people, 6 people, by myself, in a hotel, etc. so I’ve seen it all. I’m looking for a roommate who is respectful, willing to socialize, willing to give each other space, and help out around the house. I’m looking for someone who laughs at my jokes and watches weird 80s movies or 90s nickelodeon shows with me, if that’s the most socializing you’re willing to do, that’s fine. I’m looking for someone who doesn’t go on a ton of revolving tinder dates because I don’t want some random dude stealing my TV.
