EMS Professional by day, aspiring Physician Associate by night. Extroverted by nature, direct and genuine in delivery. Authentic friendships, and my immediate family mean the world to me.
I am driven and ambitious in my studies of medicine, and becoming the best clinician I can possibly be. After the bulk of the medical training is under my belt in a few years I will apply that competency in new and exciting directions, as a clinician and businessman. I will never stop growing, and I will never settle. I feel strongly that this career direction will provide immeasurable value in terms of meaning and purpose later in life.
I love to be social, and am deeply grateful for New York’s culture of spontaneity, intensity, and grit. I embrace the work hard play hard mentality that is familiar to many New Yorkers, but naturally I am partial to my studies and career goals. I love to go to restaurants where excellent food is served, and to bars and night clubs where interesting people gather, but at the end of the day my career aspirations come first, and the sanctity of my home environment is a close second. When I have friends, family, or whomever over at the apartment they will always and only be characters that are respectful of our home, and will behave responsibly. More often than not however, I wont be hosting many gatherings at the apartment because I will be too busy with my studies and work to do so. Any potential roommate would have similar standards.
... Now I will provide a little more on my history, so that you have a clearer picture of who I am, and how I got to the position I am in now...
I moved from Chicago to Northern California (specifically the North Bay area) during the summer of 2008 prior to my Sophomore year of High school given that my parents would gain greater professional opportunity, and guaranteed career advancement with the relocation. I am an only child, making the move less stressful than it otherwise might have been. I graduated from that same High School in 2011, and immediately enrolled at California State University Chico, where I proceeded to study Political Science until graduation. I studied abroad in the South West of Germany for 12 months during the 2013-2014 school year. Upon returning from my time abroad I spent the fall semester of 2014 working, and applying to Universities on the East Coast (NYC to be exact), because I wanted to continue my college years in a similar sort of urban environment that I became accustomed to in Europe, and for unknown reasons, even to myself, I had always been drawn to this city ever since I was little. I ended up being accepted at St. Johns in Jamaica Queens for the spring semester of 2015, and I pretty much immediately got on the plane without a second thought, as a silly/naive 22 year old. I came to find out quickly that what I was in for was not exactly what I expected. As many of you know Jamaica Queens, and Long Island in general is its own beast entirely, and not quite part of Manhattan exactly. The living situation was gross, with seven young dudes splitting a suite of 4 bedrooms, two bathrooms and one sink. Needless to say that place was almost always dirty, but I met some of my greatest friends during that time period, that I have not lost touch with in any sense of the phrase over the almost seven years it has been since my time at St. Johns. Looking back on the 13 years I spent on the west coast, up until when I moved to the air bnb I am living in now, I cannot say that I have connected/bonded with any of my friends from the west as I have with my friends from the east, and that is in large part why I am back out here. Continuing the undergrad story, I figured out pretty quickly in my spring semester at St. Johns that it didn't make any sense for me to continue my undergraduate education there, because I would have effectively lost an entire years worth of credits, so I decided to go back to Chico State for the following fall semester, and I eventually graduated in December of 2016.
Since that point I have worked in various entrepreneurial ventures, and account holding sales positions across the west coast eventually ending up in LA in 2018. None of that work was speaking to me on a deeper level, and fast forward to the onset of the pandemic, I was furloughed and ultimately let go from my position in 2020. This gave me a tremendous opportunity to take stock of my life and decisions up until that point, and I eventually came around to making the commitment to go to grad school, and specifically to follow the career path of becoming a Physician Associate. For those who don't know what career changers to medicine must accomplish in order to be accepted into Nursing School, PA School, or Medical School; we are all required to accomplish a post-bacc education that, to various different degrees, covers all of the classes required for a pre-med undergraduate degree. Naturally all of us in these programs have already graduated from our undergraduate education. Also for those who do not know already, PA School has some extra/unique requirements that the other two schools do not have as much of. That requirement is having patient care hours (so basically any job in health care in which the individual is responsible for some level of patient care). So my decision was to enroll in the EMT program at UCLA's Center for Prehospital care, and I graduated in the summer of 2020. I started working for an EMS company soon after that when covid was at it's worst in LA. The opportunity gave me great insight, and experience, and I am truly grateful for it.
I decided to take a medical leave for several surgeries that were set to be completed that year, including a hernia repair, LASIK, and Artificial Disk Replacement surgery in the C-spine. I have since recovered well from everything (and I am back to full function) but I began to have a growing distaste for LA, and it's inherent culture of niceness, and fake-ness. The best metaphor I have heard describing LA, is that the city is likened to that kid we all know who peaked in high school (cliquey, exclusive, but really lame on the inside). I couldn't have said it better myself, and I would go as far to say the rest of California outside of LA is like that as well only in lesser degrees.
I realized I was not stuck any more as I was in 2015, and I could finally take my leave of the west coast for good, and move to New York City, and do it the right way this time. A large part of doing it the "right way" included landing this apartment that I have listed for you, before meeting any potential roommates. I know I am sitting on an extremely valuable residence, and that is helpful to say the least. Secondly I am actively pursuing reciprocity in the state of New York for my EMT license, applying for those positions, and applying to various other health care positions that I am qualified for to get those patient care hours for PA school. Thirdly I am posting this listing, and description of myself, and what I am looking for all over the place in order to find the right person to hop on the lease with me.
The roommate I am looking for is someone who shares the values Mentioned above. I expect kindness not niceness, ambition over stability, and a genuine desire to become friends...
This arrangement needs to work for the both of us, so I think it would be best for me to put some things out there that I am guessing will filter out plenty of people.
- If you do not pride yourself on your home being clean, this will not work out.
- If you have a “No new friends” clique like, exclusivity complex and are not actually open to new friends and inviting people into your life, this will not work out. I am very much a giver, and want to be surrounded by that energy as well.
- if you absolutely must have a video game system attached to the living room TV, this will not work out.
- If you are extremely introverted, this will not work out.
- If you are not driven, ambitious, and goal oriented, this will not work out.
- If you are not tolerant of political moderates, this will not work out.
- If you are honest, forthright, and direct in character, this may work out.
Please DM me if interested.
Thank you so much for the consideration... My best,
Ben

Please tell us why you are flagging this profile:
This location is an apartment building in the Lower East Side of Manhattan that was constructed in 2015. The building consists of 37 Luxury status units, where residents enjoy a sleek entry lobby with a lounge, as well as a landscaped rooftop terrace equipped with outdoor seating, an outdoor kitchen with a gas grill and 360 degree views of the Manhattan skyline as well as the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges. The building offers a virtual doorman, bicycle storage, mail room, package room, and an elevator. The residence features floor-to-ceiling casement windows, high-end fixtures, in-unit Bosch washer/dryer, grey-stained oak floors, porcelain tile bathrooms, quartz countertops, and stainless steel appliances. Your room is the second bedroom, and it comes with it’s own private bathroom.
Points to keep in mind:
The deposit mentioned in the description is only a portion of what is due at signing to claim the second bedroom, and second private bathroom. The First months rent, deposit, and broker fee have already been paid for the entire apartment, which was a total of $18,000 (three payments of $6,000). This means that half of that ($9,000) is due to myself at signing in order to get on the lease with me. From the beginning of the second month onward you will owe the landlord $3,000 or potentially best offer per month. There is no room for negotiation on the terms laid out above, given the unique value of this apartment in New York City. Per my research of going in person to upwards of 20 different apartments with various brokers, you will not find a place even remotely comparable, in one of the neighborhoods of choice, with the amenities offered, at this particular price point. This building and residence are true gems and I am lucky to have been the first person to see it when it opened for appointments. I am looking specifically for prospective roommates that want to be on the lease. For now, forgo interest in this apartment if that is not you.
I do have two videos that showcase the actual apartment itself, and not just stock photos from the website. I can send those to you once we get past the first few hurdles, or I might place them in here attached if given the option. Keep in mind all 2 bed, 2 baths at this location have the same layout/floor plan/ amenities…etc.
I am currently living in Downtown Manhattan until the move in date of December 1st, 2021. I will be sitting down with all prospective roommates first on zoom, and then in person at a cafe or whatever at a time that is convenient for the both of us. I do expect to meet you in person prior to accepting you on the lease. I am very much partial to those who can do a zoom meeting with me and meet in person in short order over the next week or so. BTW I will still be in town for Thanksgiving.
Thank you again for the consideration.
If interested, please DM me.
My best,
Ben
