Pragmatic-Midwest transplant of 20+ years, Ivy League drop out, Divorced, single father to a 13yr old son (lives with me 50%, every other week) and a 1yr old German Sheperd, who's with me 100%
I'm probably as hesitant as you are posting this with a teen in the house. As you are responding to someone with a teen.
The reality is, summer is around the corner and he'll be spending more time at his mother's place. He'll still be around every other week. Just not as frequently, as he'll have sleepovers etc.. we keep pretty busy and will be out most of the time. The few times he will be here, at the same time as you.
He'll be down in his room doing what teens do. You won't even know he's here. He'll, I don't know even know when he is here half the time! There's also a lot of space and an entire floor between the rooms.
With that being said, I will keep a strict guest and behavior policy during those weeks. Limited guests and no over night guests.
The weeks he's not here. I'm way more open and laid back. But that doesn't mean you can bring the EDM after party back to mine at 3 am on a Tuesday. Or let your little brother crash on the sofa 3 nights a week.
The theme is respect... mutual of course. my home is my cozy, drama free sanctuary. Where I can unwind and just be.
Anyway... back to me. I'm a Professional-who got burnt out doing the corporate grind and recently went back to school, started a business and got a P/T evening job.
I'm low key and reserved (until I'm not) (not afraid to have a difficult conversation if needed, nor be taken advantage of.
I Respect and appreciate boundaries as well as personal space.
Intj, Enneagram 8 and a Gemini for those into that stuff... essentially I'm an introverted extrovert.
Kind, but maybe not all that "nice"
80'kid/90's teen, former collegiate athlete, movie buff, music lover (except country, unless old school) home cook, urban gardner, adventurer/explorer, being a dad.
I enjoy the outdoors-hiking, camping, fishing, snowshoeing, bike rides as much as sporting events, museums and the arts.
