Hi, my name is Vanessa and I’m a young professional who is looking for a roommate to share a home with. I grew up in the Cypress NW area but I left for college in 2012 and 8 years later I’m back in my hometown working in policy and looking to build community here in the area. Prior to moving back, I was finishing my masters degree at MIT and living in La Casa Latina with 4 roommates from Latin America, myself who is originally from Colombia and a fluent Spanish speaker, and my dog Risa. I am looking for a future roommate to do the most possible to create a COVID pod with me (open to discussing what this looks like esp if you have to work in person but not open to people who don’t wear masks in public or won’t get vaccinated or who want to meet up with friends outside of those who you live with on a regular basis). I want a house that is full of radical love, not just open to but nurturing of all sexualities, genders, ethnicities, races, religions, disabilities (open to supporting your needs), and family types (I'm open to couples and kids!)
I’m someone that likes to be at home and wants that space to feel safe and comforting. I will be working a lot but until the pandemic is “over”, it will be almost 100% remote. I try to make space for taking care of myself and for sharing with the people I live with. I love to cook and share my cooking and keep a clean home and routine. I hope to garden a ton in the yard space of the home. My dog has been my companion for 4 years now, she loves people and people fall in love with her, but sadly she’s not compatible to live with other cats nor other dogs. She can do at least 10 tricks including “pick-up” where she picks up your shoes or phone and brings them to you. Most importantly, she’s been my support for a long time and I would love it if she and you bonded too.
I’ve currently been visiting homes in Lindale Park connected to the red-line or 20 min commute to downtown Houston, ideally max $850 per person (1700-1800 for 2 bedrooms, not including utilities), with a backyard to put a little garden in and a dishwasher because it really is a magical machine.
Please send me a message if this type of home life is something you are interested in! Let me know what you value in life, what kind of impact you want to live in the world, what kind of cleaning habits you have, etc. I'll set up a video call as a first next step and share with you some of the homes I've been interested in renting. The estimated move-in timeframe is April 1st- April 15th, 1-year lease.
Thanks for reading!
