About Me

I’m out at work most of the week, Mon-Fri, and I am a well rounded plant nerd. I also like to sew clothes, read science fiction, sketch, and bake (which absolutely includes sharing). We’ve been doing homemade pizza nights most Saturdays since March, and I would love to keep doing that. I like to cook with people, and host friends for dinner (currently only outside in our courtyard space). I like to keep common spaces fairly tidy, especially the kitchen. I tend to clean when I notice they’re dirty, but with a chore schedule I’m usually pretty good, give or take a few days. I like things clean, but I’m not too stressed about it.

My current roommates are good friends, and are only moving out because they found a dream house outside of the city. One of us would show you around the garden and inside the apartment, depending on the time of day.

COVID-19 Risk Profile: I work in urban agriculture, outdoors on a rooftop or in a large ventilated greenhouse with two other masked, responsible people. We can talk about our bubble buddy system.

Available Room for Rent

Perfect WFH with Garden

Utilities and wifi included.

Looking for a friendly roommate or couple to share a spacious, well lit, and private renovated duplex for six months. The apartment is set back from the street behind a large, planted garden that we share with three friendly neighboring apartments. It’s three blocks from the waterfront, and only two from a Food Bazaar grocery store. Also within a few blocks: Ample Hills, Hometown BBQ, Pioneer Works, and a bunch of other small breweries and distilleries. This is a sweet spot!

Downstairs is all shared space: open plan kitchen, dining, and living room, as well as the bathroom. The bedroom upstairs is 10 x 14 feet with a closet and well-lit windows. The next room over is a spacious study (all yours!), if you need to work from home, with another closet. We have laundry on site, and a shed to keep bikes, scooters, and motorcycles out of the rain. Pets are open for discussion.

The garden includes three separate outdoor spaces: two sitting areas and a rooftop vegetable garden. It’s very charming, and a godsend for having social-distanced beers with friends.

== More about Me ==
I'm a 27 year old woman, cis and gay. I’m out at work most of the week, Mon-Fri, and as you would expect from my profession, I’m pretty nerdy about plants and food. == Transit ==
We have a reputation in Red Hook as hard to reach by transit, but it’s not been an issue for me. Here are all the ways to get around here:
B61 bus stop on same block as apartment (take to F/G at Smith and 9th, or to Downtown Brooklyn)
Citi Bike docks directly across the street from apartment
Covered bike storage available
Street parking in Red Hook is pretty easy
25 minute walk to F/G at Smith and 9th
Ferry to Wall Street is an 8 minute walk, you can bring your bike to the ferry

== About the Neighborhood ==
Red Hook is a quiet neighborhood in a boisterous city. We have a few niche communities, like community gardeners, artists, and hardcore motorcyclists. In addition to Ikea ten minutes away on foot, there are myriad breweries, distilleries, and other small businesses along a charming small-town-vibe main street. The waterfront has a view of Manhattan and the Statue of Liberty, and is pedestrian-friendly: lots of benches to enjoy the view with an Ample Hills ice cream.
