About Me

I'll be starting a 2-year graduate program at CUNY in August, looking for a roommate or 2 for a chunk of that time. Would like to live within biking distance of midtown. I don't need a TON of space, but I'd prefer that my roommates and I had enough to feel like we're not in a small dark box.

I am easygoing and can get along with most folks. Need a lot of time to myself, but I am very respectful of others' time and space as well. Otherwise, sociable and keen to have conversations or go out to museums/parks/bars, wherever. I went to NYU and have lived in quite a few places in downtown Manhattan, plus a year in Carroll Gardens, Brooklyn. I'm familiar with these areas and would be happy to show people around. Always interested in finding new spots and exploring new neighborhoods.

In my free time I'll probably be out of the house at a concert, museum, cafe or walking around the city. I'd love to do any of these things with a roommate, but I'd never push someone to join me.

I am very into the things I'm into and I'd love to talk more about them at home. I'd like to hear about your interests as well, even if they're nothing at all like mine.
-Books: I've been reading a lot of poetry and history recently. At the moment 30 hours into a War and Peace audiobook (almost halfway through!)
-Music: My playlist's eclectic, and I love finding new things. I'm bringing my guitar to NY, which I don't know how to play yet. I won't learn too loud.
-Art: I am very interested in art, although I'm not sure I get it too often. My favorite wing of the Met is the Asian Art Collection, plus the Cloisters 100%.
-Volunteering: I am looking for ways to get involved in various aid/advocacy organizations in New York. I've worked with several groups in DC, from grassroots mutual aid to DC's homeless newspaper, Street Sense.
-Exercising: I enjoy many kinds of exercising, but at home that will just be yoga in my room now and then.
-Games: Spent my adolescence on video games and Magic cards. Haven't played much since then, but would love to get into DnD/RPGs.
-Most of all, I'd like to get as much out of living in New York as possible. Any kinds of odd events or nowhere-else gatherings are things I'll make time to get to.

-LGBTQ+ friendly
-I'm pretty tidy. Happy to split cleaning for common spaces evenly.
-I try to be forthright and upfront with any housing issues - if this is your style too, we should be all set.
-I'm in a long distance relationship, and my partner may come to visit a couple times a month on weekends. But, I might also be out of the house visiting them a couple times a month on weekends.
-I cook every few days, but if you're a real chef you'll have the kitchen mostly to yourself.
-420/drinking friendly - I might now and then, not too often.
