Hey guys my name is Alex and I’ve lived in Brooklyn for about 2 years. I’m a software engineer at a fintech startup in Midtown and work hybrid going to office about twice a week.
After work I’ll often go straight to the gym, so some days I’m gone for like 12 hours. I play in a couple soccer leagues and I also love to bike around Brooklyn when it’s nice out.
Weekdays are pretty tame. If I’m feeling social I might have some friends over for a board game or pop out for a pint somewhere in the neighborhood. Otherwise, I might just play some video games or watch a show.
Greenpoint has phenomenal nightlife so I'll usually go out with some buddies on Saturday. I like to share my friends and hope you do too! I love to have fun but also enjoy being a functional human the day after. I consider myself a social person, but of course need some alone time here and there.
I enjoy cooking and love to collab on some family style meals with friends on occasion. I’ve got some great equipment as well that I’m happy to share as long as it’s treated with care.
Single at the moment, and don’t have a strong preference for your relationship status as long as your partner doesn’t start living here permanently/you’re bringing people back every single night.
I consider myself respectful and flexible. I value my relationship with my roommate as I value my home environment. All I ask is that you do the same and we will certainly get along!

Room for rent in Historic Greenpoint
About the room: Easily able to fit a queen bed, nightstand, and desk (24x55in) with room to spare. As you can see the windows are massive and there is a dedicated vent for the AC unit (which you will inherit). The radiator is more than large enough for a room this size so I guarantee you will be very cozy when it gets cold outside. It's south facing so you will get plenty of sunlight throughout the morning and day. Open your windows when it's nice out and you can pretend you're in a Disney movie because all you hear is birds chirping in the courtyard you overlook.
About the unit: We're on the fourth (top) floor! No central air but I have a beast of an AC unit for the living room as well as a massive air freshener that keep the space cool, dry, and fresh. I have a bunch of furniture, appliances and kitchen supplies. I would definitely appreciate you bringing some stuff and that can be discussed/coordinated later on. Just know that all of the necessities are here. Internet is about $35/month each and utilities obviously vary by season but typically $50-$75/month each. I know the neighbors and they're all very polite and quiet people.
About the building: Built in 2003 so it's in great shape and very well taken care of. We haven't had a single issue with anything or anyone since moving in, but the super is always around and we have a great relationship with him in case anything goes south. Laundry + bike room in the basement.
About location/Greenpoint: We're in a great location to say the least: 5-10 minute walk to the G train and about a 15 minute walk to Bedford L station. I cannot stress how peaceful and clean it is here. Rarely do you see trash on the street/sidewalk. Front yards are kept tidy, flowers and trees bloom beautifully in the spring. The only noise that might disturb you is the occasional emergency response siren. Greenpoint, however, is not a retirement community. This place is full of young people and families, and it has an actual neighborhood feel. Local grocery store is 3 blocks away (Whole foods + trader joes a bit further away but in Williamsburg nevertheless). Tons of cafes, bars, and restaurants within walking distance. McCarren park is a 10 minute walk away. Check out the area on google maps or just ask me about it!
